Maya Lighting Animation
The animation and notes on this page explain some aspects of applying RenderMan light sources to a Maya animation.
This render was created by turning on Depth Map shadows in the Maya lights attribute editor. It looks pretty good, but the shadow are too low resolution, the column shadows are very stair-steppy, and the shadows in other locations shimmer.
This render used a RenderMan distance light with a connected shadow map. The shadows are smoother, but they jump around a lot, like a strobe light or something. Well got some stuff to work out.

This is a print screen of the Maya scene.

This assignment demonstrates the use of depth map shadows in RenderMan. Only the "sun" light casts shadows in the scene. All of the lights are colored to give the early morning time laps feel. The color and intensity were animated over time and the "sun" was moved.
